The loss of a pet can be a traumatic experience for its owner. At least one factor adding to this trauma is handling of the pet after it passes away.
Petknap, Inc. was formed from the need of the veterinary community to have a compassionate way to present a deceased pet to the owner. Prior to Petknap, Inc., a deceased pet was given to the owner usually wrapped in a plastic trash bag or cadaver bag. A veterinarian may then place the pet in a used, discarded box or in a cardboard coffin for ease of transportation. None of these containers offer much sympathy or compassion to the grieving pet owner.
Petknap, Inc. provides the best burial case for the veterinarian and pet owner to use for transport and dispose of the deceased pet. Our main objective at Petknap, Inc. is to offer an attractive, empathetic presentation of a deceased pet to the owner. In addition, our products are leak resistant so the pet can easily be transported for burial at home or at a cemetery without being wrapped in a plastic bag.
While designing our Petknap product line, we discovered a similar, existing, commercially available product, called "Journey's End". In 2003, we acquired the patent rights to this technology and the rights to the Journey's End product line. Then, we designed our Petknap product line with the same vital features. In particular, the Journey's End product line targets the needs of the professional pet cemetery market, while the Petknap product line focuses on the needs of the veterinarian. However, both products are designed with the needs of the pet owner and veterinarian community in mind.
